Dubai Chewy Cookie

What is Dubai Chewy Cookie

The Dubai chewy cookie (often called Dujjonku in Korea) is a trending dessert that combines a chewy, marshmallow-like exterior with a rich pistachio and shredded kadaifi (Middle Eastern pastry) filling, dusted with cocoa powder. Despite the name, it was created in South Korea, not Dubai, inspired by the earlier global viral wave of Dubai chocolate desserts (pistachio-kadayıf based sweets).

The texture and look — soft outside, crunchy inside, and richly colored opening — make it especially appealing for photos and videos

How It Went Viral

  • The trend blew up in South Korea largely through social media, especially after K-pop idols (like IVE’s Jang Won-young) shared the dessert on Instagram, sparking massive public interest.

  • It became one of Korea’s biggest recent food crazes, with bakeries selling out within minutes each day and crowds lining up early just to get a piece

Why People Are Obsessed

  • Visual appeal: The dramatic pull-apart center and layered textures are tailor-made for short video platforms like TikTok and Instagram.

  • Texture craze: Koreans often favor chewy desserts (쫀득 texture), and this cookie fits perfectly into that preference.

  • Exotic & luxury vibes: The Dubai label signals something premium and aspirational, adding to its allure.
